Why I Choose Not to Do Webinars: 3 Compelling Reasons

Mar 20, 2024

In the realm of online education and coaching, webinars have long been hailed as a go-to method for both instructors and learners.

However, after thorough consideration and personal experience, I've made a conscious decision to steer clear of webinars. Whether you're a course creator, coach, or student, here are three reasons why I firmly believe that webinars aren't worth the investment of time:

  1. Awkward Dynamics for Presenters and Participants: Let's face it, webinars can be incredibly awkward for both the presenter and the attendees. Picture this: a creator or coach hosts a webinar, offering valuable insights for around 30 minutes, only to abruptly switch gears into a full-fledged sales pitch for their course or coaching package. As a participant eager to learn, this transition can feel disingenuous and pushy, leaving you scrambling for the exit before being coerced into a purchase.

  2. Bait & Switch Tactics: One of the biggest red flags associated with webinars is the classic bait and switch maneuver. Creators often lure in participants with promises of free education or valuable insights, only to pivot towards aggressively pitching their paid products. As a creator myself, I refuse to engage in this deceptive practice. While I do offer courses, I firmly believe in transparency and providing genuine value without resorting to manipulative tactics.

  3. Not Essential for Sales: Contrary to popular belief, webinars are not a prerequisite for successfully selling courses or coaching packages. While they may yield results for some, they are by no means the only or most effective method. Rather than relying on forced sales pitches during webinars, I've found success by focusing on authentic relationship-building and providing valuable content through alternative channels.

So, if not webinars, then how do I sell courses and coaching packages?

Allow me to share my approach, which has led to the development of my thriving 7-figure online course and coaching business:

Step 1: Provide Free High-Quality Content: I kickstart the process by releasing free, high-quality teaching videos on my niche subject across platforms like YouTube and social media.

Step 2: Offer Valuable Teaching Tools for Free: In addition to videos, I offer free teaching tools that genuinely help individuals in their learning journey.

Step 3: Implement Email Funnels: Through strategic email funnels, I present the opportunity for interested individuals to purchase my courses or coaching services, all while maintaining authenticity and transparency throughout the process.

In conclusion, while webinars may have their time and place, they simply don't align with my values as a course creator and coach. By prioritizing genuine connection, valuable content, and transparent sales practices, I've been able to build a successful online business without relying on the webinar model.
